Foundation is one of those products that I just can’t live without. Believe me, I have tried them all and made so many makeup mistakes that I’ve learned from them now. Depending on the season, how often I am out in the sun, I am always switching up the colors and formulas. I feel like no makeup look is really complete without it but sometimes it gets a bad name. Picking out the wrong shade, formula or even finish for your skin type can make what should be a great product – a disaster! I always love a full coverage look, regardless if I am just running errands or if I have a get together to go too. I have rated my four top go-to foundations, why I love them and why I think they will be a great addition to your makeup collection.
Fiona Stiles Matte Finish Foundation Concentrate
This is one of my favorite, holy grail foundations. This foundation is easy to blend and it looks so natural while still providing great coverage. I love that it is light weight and doesn’t feel like you have makeup on. It doesn’t oxidize and is true to color. I find that it does not settle into my fine lines and it lasts pretty much all day with or without a primer. The finish is not a full on matte, I would say it is more of a semi matte finish. It still looks beautiful though, besides I find matte foundations to sometimes be too drying, but not the case with this foundation. It does not stick to dry patches, so I think it would be good for all sink types. I personally have combination, sensitive acne prone skin and it works wonderfully for me. I have been using this foundation for about six months now and I will definitely be re-purchasing.
Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longer Foundation
Fenty Beauty… so much to say about this foundation. First, there are 40 shades, how amazing is that! Truly a great range of shades for all skin tones. Now for the reasons why I love this foundation. I have combination skin type with my t-zone being super oily, and let me say this foundation keeps me matte all day long. One of the only foundations that lasts all day without me getting crazy oily throughout the day. It dries down very, very fast. So no dotting all over the face and then leisurely blending. I think the reason people are experiencing patchiness, is because they are not working in sections or not blending quickly enough. I dot the foundation on one side of my face and then go in with my brush to get a flawless finish and great coverage. One thing to also remember with this foundation is if you have dry/normal skin even combo/oily is to moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. This is a very matte foundation and moisturizing your skin before hand will keep the foundation from clinging to any dry patches you may have.
Another reason why I love this foundation is because I only have to use one shade and it matches me pretty perfectly! When looking for your shade remember to look at the undertones, because she has a lot of colors and plenty of undertones, so this can be a challenge trying to find your right shade as some shades appear to run too red or too dull. Overall, this foundation is one of my favorites and I think this is a great addition to any makeup collection!
Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer
This is an oil free foundation that is full coverage with a matte finish. There are so many colors in this collection! You can use this to conceal any spots or dark circles or apply this as an all over foundation. It comes with this applicator tip that you can apply the product directly to your skin. I love that I can use this foundation as both a foundation and concealer which makes it that much better! The only thing with this foundation, while it dries down to a semi matte I do have to make sure to set this foundation that way I know it will stay put all day. Definitely go visit your local Sephora to give this foundation/concealer a try, who knows it may become one of your favorites too!
Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless
My drugstore favorite foundation, Maybelline never lets me down! I used the old Maybelline Fit Me, but when I heard they were coming out with a Matte version I was thrilled. This foundation has a really nice coverage and I find it works best with a damp beauty blender/sponge. If I want to have a more natural look I can achieve it with is foundation and then build it up to a more full coverage look if I want to go out for the night. One thing I wish Maybelline would change is to add a pump, but it is a great foundation especially for the price! It holds up well through out the day, I only find myself having to powder my t-zone area, which doesn’t get oily until about 5 hours into wearing the foundation. If you are looking for an affordable foundation that has buildable coverage while keeping you matte I would definitely recommend giving the Matte + Poreless a try!
